One of the most common routes to permanent residency available is for individuals who have lived in South Africa on work or business for several years. Alternatively, individuals can also apply for permanent residency through critical skills, a family member who is a South African citizen or permanent resident, or through retirement.
Once granted permanent residency, individuals enjoy the privilege of living and working in South Africa without the need for continuous visa renewals. They can also access many of the benefits available to South African citizens, such as access to public healthcare and education. However, permanent residents may still be subject to certain immigration rules and requirements. Obtaining permanent residency in South Africa is a significant milestone for foreign nationals seeking long-term residence.
