South African (SA) business executives, artisans and professionals who travel to work on the rest of the African continent had a difficult enough time navigating the red tape to get work permits and visas approved before the Covid-19 Lockdown.
The fact that responsibility for developing e-visas for the country has now been moved from the Department of Home Affairs to the Presidency, essentially means it will be getting a “higher focus”, according to Sisa Ntshona, CEO of SA Tourism.
In his State of the Nation Address, President Ramaphosa announced the imminent release of the highly anticipated updated Critical Skills list for public comment by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
Xpatweb revealed that SA is currently competing for critical skills in healthcare, engineering and ICT.
Premium Visa
The recently introduced Premium Visa is issued for one year and valid 180 days. It is renewable where necessary. The Visa is available to travellers, retirees, and professionals who want to move with their families and continue their business or remote work from Mauritius. Health protocols are implemented to ensure visitors’ and locals’ safety and help Mauritius remain a Covid-safe destination. With the Premium Visa, you may not enter the Mauritian labour market. Applicants must prove that they have enough income from a source outside of Mauritius to obtain this visa.
